Police in Asheville say they have arrested a suspect accused of stealing a handgun from a store.

Asheville Police Search For Suspected Gun Thief - August 22, 2013

Asheville Police are trying to find a man who they say stole a handgun from a store.

Police released a photo of the suspect, who they say took the weapon on July 18 from Carolina Guns and Gear at 3106 Sweeten Creek Road.

Investigators say he took the handgun from a display while employees at the store were distracted. 

The suspected thief is described as being 5'10" and weighing about 220 pounds. He's believed to be between 25 and 35 years old.

Anyone with information about the man in the photo is asked to call Asheville Police at 828-252-1110 or Crime Stoppers at 828-255-5050 or send a tip via text message specifically to the Asheville PD by Texting "APDTIP plus your tip" to 274637 (CRIMES).
