Lottery Ticket Worth Nearly $900K Sold In Forest City

Posted: Updated:

A Carolina Cash 5 player in Rutherford County won nearly $900,000 Sunday night.

The North Carolina Education Lottery reports the winning ticket was sold at an Ingles store on South Church Street in Forest City. That ticket hit the jackpot for $876,185 after ten consecutive drawings without a big winner.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 8-12-19-21-32. The winning ticketholder has 180 days to come to lottery headquarters in Raleigh to collect the prize money.

There have been two big winning tickets sold in Rutherford County in August.

Dan Royal, a carpenter from Forest City, won the top prize playing a $5,000 a Week for Life! instant ticket.

That wasn't Royal's only big lottery win. In February of 2012, he scratched off $750,000 playing Jumbo Bucks. Royal purchased both winning tickets at the Little Cubbard in Rutherfordton.
