ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

Asheville Police say two North Carolina men were killed in an accident involving a wrong-way driver early Wednesday morning on Interstate 26.

The accident involved three vehicles in the eastbound lanes of the interstate - between the 32 and 33 mile markers - at 3:24 a.m.

APD investigators say Dennis Tornquist, 63,  of Brevard was traveling westbound - on I-26 East - in a 2001 Honda Civic. The Civic collided with the rear tandem axles of a tractor-trailer and then hit a 1995 Chevy Tahoe head-on.

The Tahoe was driven by Fredrick King, 61, of Canton.

Tornquist and King died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer wasn't injured.

Asheville Police continue to investigate the accident.
