A Pacolet man was killed after investigators say he was hit by a train Wednesday night in Spartanburg County.
David John Missita, 36, was struck and killed by a train around 10:00 p.m. according to the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office.
It happened at the intersection of Whitestone Glendale Road and Southport Road. Missita was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Norfolk Southern Railroad says the victim stepped off the track and then stepped back on just as the train approached.
The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office is investigating the case along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office and Norfolk Southern.
