NORTH, S.C. -
U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson says the Obama Administration should consult with Congress before taking any military action in Syria.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/18anLaU ) the 2nd District GOP congressman made the comments Thursday during a visit to the  North Auxiliary Airfield.

Wilson says he has sent a letter to the president urging that Congress be brought back into session to consider the Syrian issue. He says the Constitution requires Congress to have a role in military action.

Wilson also says the American people need to understand the full consequences of any action in Syria.

The U.S. and its allies have suggested military action is needed in response to evidence the Syrian government used chemical weapons on their own people.
