SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

One man is dead after an armed robbery in Spartanburg County Friday afternoon.

Authorities say they were called to the scene at a Family Dollar on Chesnee Highway around 4:45 p.m.

Investigators tell 7 On Your Side the suspect was tracked from the store to a fenced area at the corner of Barnwell and Greenhill roads where he got in a short gunfight with deputies before killing himself.

No deputies were hurt.  All four have been placed on paid leave as part of policy for discharging a weapon.

The coroner identified the man as 34-year-old Carson Glen Keen Jr. of Spartanburg.

An autopsy will be performed Saturday afternoon.
