HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -
Hendersonville Police say a drunk driver hit one of their officers while he attempted to stop the car.

Police say Dale Nash of Hendersonville was driving the wrong way on 6th Avenue near Main Street early Monday morning. The officer tried to stop Nash, but was struck and landed on the hood of the still-moving car for a short distance.

Nash was finally caught and arrested.

HPD investigators say Officer Garrett Gardin suffered minor injuries, but has returned to duty.

Nash is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon on a government official, DWI, resisting arrest and wrong-way on a one-way.

He's being held in the Henderson County jail on $8,000 bond.
