ASHEVILLE, N.C. -

Update: Sunday, Sept. 9th:

Asheville Police say an Arden woman is dead after a collision in Asheville Saturday night.

Police say it happened around 8:37 pm Saturday night on U.S. 25 near Rock Hill Road.

They say a red 1993 Chevrolet Lumina driven by 45 year old Kimberly Patience Folston of Asheville was traveling south on U.S. 25 when it crossed the center lane into the northbound lanes and struck a moped driven by 27 year old Sierra Marie Allen.

Police say Allen died at the scene.

Asheville Police have charged Folston with DWI and they say additional charges could be forthcoming pending further investigation.



Saturday, Sept. 8th:

The Asheville Police Department is investigating a traffic fatality at the intersection of Hendersonville Road and Rock Hill Road.

Police say it happened just after 8:30 pm Saturday night.

The Asheville Citizen Times reports one person was killed when a car collided with a moped.

They also report police say the driver of the moped was killed.

The Citizen Times also reports police reopened one southbound land and one northbound lane around 10:30 pm Saturday.
