GREENWOOD COUNTY, S.C. -

Former prosecutor Jerry Peace of Greenwood has been selected as a federal judge.

The Index-Journal of Greenwood reported Tuesday that Peace has been picked to serve as a federal administrative law judge.

Peace starts work later this month in Greenville hearing disability appeals for the Social Security Administration.

The 62-year-old Peace served two terms as the chief prosecutor for Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry counties. He lost last year's Republican primary to David Stumbo, who went on to win the general election.

Peace is a graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law. He is retired from the U.S. Army and spent 20 years as a judge advocate general.
