BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. -

Deputies are looking into reports on Saturday that a gun was fired at Erwin High School’s Friday night football game in Buncombe County.

The Erwin High Warriors had just defeated the Madison High Patriots 55-27 for a fourth win this season when the gun fire was reported.

According to reports released by the Sheriff’s Office, the firearm was discharged around the time that a fight erupted between two individuals just after 10 p.m.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer, Natalie Bailey, mentioned in a report that no one was hurt as a result of the shots being fired and that the case is still being investigated.

This is in addition to the eight arrests that were made earlier this week at the high school. Anyone with information regarding Friday night's altercation at Erwin is encouraged to call the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office.

Six other students – all minors – were also charged with disorderly conduct.

Three teachers were involved in breaking up the fight. Two required treatment for minor injuries at Urgent Care.
