SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

A Spartanburg Police officer was arrested and fired after being accused of discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Alvin Jamar Anderson, 25, was involved in the domestic related incident shortly before 4 a.m. Friday, and was taken into custody by Spartanburg County deputies.

Anderson was originally placed on leave, but was later terminated from the department.

Anderson started as an officer with the department earlier this year.

"This matter is extremely disappointing, but I am grateful that no one was seriously injured or there was not a loss of life", said Colonel Jennifer Kindall.

Anderson was released from the Spartanburg County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
