Mike Rau is the patient who needs a kidney within the next year. He can tell how his younger brother has agreed to be a living donor. The Medicaid program helps low income patients like Mike with the cost. He has no other health insurance. He has been told to raise at least $20,000 for the costs that he will have to pay just for the kidney operation. The pancreas operation and on-going medication are over and above that.
The $20,000 needed by Mike within a year will cover: · Travel, food and lodging while Mike is in Charleston for the transplant · Caregivers in Charleston · Caregivers during recovery in Greenville · Co-pays for medication
