HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. - A U.S. District judge sentenced former charter school principal, Chadwick Hamby, and former special education teacher, Deborah Tipton, on charges related to child pornography.

Hamby received 51 months in prison to be followed by lifetime supervised release. He must also register as a sex offender for 15 years. Tipton was sentenced to 216 months in prison and a lifetime of supervised release. She must register as a sex offender for 25 years.

In August 2012, Hamby who was a principal at Mountain Community School, pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography. In September, Tipton who is a teacher at the school, pleaded guilty to possession and transporting child pornography.

Court documents show Tipton produced two sexually explicit videos of a child under 12 years old and sent the videos to Hamby. Hamby admitted to viewing the videos before deleting them.
