Funeral Thursday For Seneca Firefighter Killed In Lake Hartwell Crash

SENECA, S.C. -

The funeral for a Seneca firefighter takes place Thursday.

David Ray Wright, 47, was killed in an Anderson County wreck after the truck he was in crashed into Lake Hartwell on Monday.

Authorities say a tire blew out on the truck, it crossed the center line and went over the double bridges and went over the guardrail, into the water around 6 p.m.

Wright, who was the Chief of Friendship Volunteer Fire Department in Oconee County, was trapped in the cab and later pronounced dead.

A viewing for Wright took place Wednesday at Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home.

The funeral will take place Thursday at 2 p.m. at Hepsibah Baptist Church on Friendship Road. A procession will follow at around 3 p.m. It will end at Heritage Memorial Gardens on Highway 11.
