USF Police give all clear, no armed gunman found

TAMPA, FL (WFLA) -

The law enforcement sweep of the USF area in Tampa is complete and the area has been cleared.

No armed subjects were found. University police continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

An armed suspect had been reported on the campus of the University of South Florida in Tampa Friday afternoon.

The campus posted an alert on their website that the suspect was near the USF Health (MDC) area.

The Oracle, a campus newspaper, reported campus police officials recieved a call about an individual seen jumping a fence at 1:40pm Friday afternoon. Police were looking for a black male with a blue shirt and khaki shorts. The individual was believed to be armed and was last seen in the USF Health area.
