This morning Allstate Insurance will have a distracted driving seminar for students at J.L. Mann Academy in Greenville.
Students will have to respond to a text message while trying to virtually drive, with other distractions inside the car as well.
After they drive through the virtual course, the students get a report on how dangerous it is to text and drive.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says you are 23 percent more likely to get in a crash while texting and driving.
Allstate believes this distracted driving simulation will truly help teens realize the dangers of distracted driving. "Doing this event just helps drive that awareness show teens in a much more realistic situation what can happen if they continue to text and drive, mess with the radio, put on their makeup. All kinds of different things," said Allstate Consultant Daniel Groce.
NHTSA also has material on how to talk to your child about distracted driving. To visit that website, click here.
