Fire and emergency crews responded to the scene of an industrial accident at ADS on Commerce Drive in Gaffney around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

The Cherokee County Coroner says Kenneth Robert Clary, 24, of North Carolina was operating a picker lift that was 30 feet in the air pulling merchandise off a shelf when his machine was struck by another machine.

The machine toppled sending Clary to floor, according to the coroner.

Clary died at the scene after suffering severe head trauma, said the coroner.

The driver of the second lift was not hurt.

This is the second incident the coroner's office has investigated at this plant in six years, according to the coroner.

The South Carolina Occupational Safety Administration is investigating.
