Sheriff: Union Man Sets House On Fire, Mother Inside

A man was arrested for setting his home on fire, according to a press release from the Union Count Sheriff's Office.

On October 1, firefighters were called to Parks Lane in Union for a house fire.

Union County deputies and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division investigated the fire and determined it had been started with accelerant's, according to the press release.

William Allen Wallace, 41, was interviewed by SLED and admitted to them that he started the fire.

He was taken into custody on October 2 and charged with Arson 3rd degree and two counts of attempted murder, according to the press release.

The attempted murder charges are because two elderly females were inside the home, asleep while the fire was started. One of the women was Wallace's mother.

Wallace was previously charged with Arson 3rd degree in July of 2010.  He pled guilty and served two years probation, according to the press release.
