Kangaroo Employee Caught Stealing Lottery Tickets

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

A Spartanburg convenience store employee has been busted for stealing lottery tickets.

An employee at the Kangaroo Express at 1460 WO Ezell Boulevard in Spartanburg reported the problem to Spartanburg Public Safety on Wednesday, October 2nd.

Officers say surveillance cameras at the store caught the 26-year-old worker taking the tickets starting on September 9th. The video shows the worker opening the box and removing tickets from the middle of the ticket roll. He can then be seen walking to the restroom with the tickets, and returning moments later empty-handed.

Police reports say video evidence show the thefts occurred on five separate occasions. The employees who contacted police say the suspect knows he's been caught doing it, and doesn't plan on returning to work.

Officers now have 4 DVDs containing video of all the incidents, an inventory report, and emails between store management about discovery of the thefts. All of those items will be placed into evidence.
