Voter ID Law In Effect For November Elections

Posted: Updated:
Election day is a little less than a month away and with new laws in effect, there are changes you need to know.

The Voter ID law came into effect January 1st, 2013 in South Carolina.

That means means that every person is required to bring photo identification with them to the polls.

You now must bring one of the following:
  • S.C. Driver's License
  • ID Card issued by S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles
  • S.C. Voter Registration Card with Photo
  • Federal Military ID
  • U.S. Passport

If you have changed counties, you must register in your new county.  You have to register 30 days out from the election.

If you have moved within the same county, you only need to write your new address on the back of your voter registration card.
