Child Porn Charges Against Former Anderson Elementary Teacher

Posted: Updated:
The U.S. District Attorney for S.C. says Joey Thomas Carter, 47, a former elementary teacher at Anderson District 5 was sentenced to 18 months for possession of child pornography.

They say an agent in Idaho assumed the on-line identity of an individual who had been using Yahoo mail to trade child porn.

The account that the agent took over had received e-mails from an account associated with Joey Carter of Anderson, South Carolina. In addition, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children had received reports from Juno.com Carter had been downloading child porn.

The instances of downloading child pornography reported by Juno.com were obtained and law enforcement confirmed that the images involved were of children under the age of 18 engaging in sexually explicit acts.

Agents seized multiple computers from Carter’s home.  A forensic exam of computers revealed multiple images and videos of child pornography.  In an interview with agents, Carter admitted to trading child pornography over the internet.
