SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

A man was arrested after explosives were found inside a Spartanburg County home Friday afternoon.

Deputies partitioned off the home in the 2700 block of Holly Springs Road after the explosives were found while they were executing a search warrant.

The Hazard Materials Unit technicians, with the help of the South Carolina National Guard, identified the explosives and said that they were unsafe to move to another location to detonate.

Instead, the explosives were destroyed where they were found.  Homes were evacuated in the area.

Wayne Garrett was charged with Manufacturing Explosives.

An anonymous source told the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office about the explosives according to an incident report.

The sheriff's office says it relies on citizens to be eyes and ears for them.
