Cherokee County, S.C. -
A South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper was fired after being accused of misappropriating funds from an Upstate organization.

Jeffrey L. Martin was terminated by SCHP after being charged with breach of trust by the State Law Enforcement Division.
Martin served as treasurer of the Fraternal Order of Police Chapter in Cherokee County.

A Cherokee County arrest warrant states Martin, 32, of Blacksburg withdrew nearly $3,000 from FOP bank accounts for his own use.
Martin was suspended by SCHP in May pending the outcome of the probe by state investigators.
Martin served as a lance corporal in the Cherokee County and Union County. He had served with the department since 2006.
The SCDPS Office of Professional Responsibility is also investigating Martin.

Cherokee County deputies say Martin was released Friday night on a $5,000 bond.
