You may not realize it, but October is a great month to snag savings depending on what you're looking to buy.
This month is the perfect time to get discounts on everything from cars to music.
Here are the best buys of October.
Savvy shopper Britts Gibbes is well aware that October has deals that rival the holidays. It all depends on what you buy.
This month the back to school aisle taught her a valuable lesson in savings.
"Catch school supplies on clearance. Save them for the next year, and then you're ready to go. And you can really find some good deals, I've already found some here," said Gibbes.
She also scheduled a vacation during one of the least expensive times of year, just before the holiday rush.
"I think it's a great time to travel airlines wise because everybody's going to be traveling for the holidays and you could go now and avoid all that rush and get a good deal at the same time."
One thing she didn't realize, October is a great time to buy music. Dealnews says many artists release new albums this month and offer freebie songs online.
"I had no idea about that one, you would think that would be the same price all year long," said Gibbes.
Shopper Meg Fogleman was thrilled to learn she could save this month on gear for one of her husbands favorite pastimes.
"I would love to go find a deal on camping stuff now."
And Nick Stave who is shopping for a truck found out new models that came out last month are forcing the 2013 prices down by as much as 20%.
"It was like $5000 off for a brand new vehicle plus extended warranty," said Stave.
Now, when it comes to Halloween, being a procrastinator is actually a good thing. That's because stores like Target, Buy Costumes and Carters, start offering discounts of as much as much as 50% the week before October 31st.
If you're after savings, steer clear of the Appliances, coats and electronics for now. You won't have to wait long. You're likely to see big discounts on those items next month through December.
