Database Shows Real Prices At Upstate Hospital For Procedures

Posted: Updated:
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - 7 On Your Side continues to research the prices of common supplies and procedures at Upstate Hospitals.

It began in September when one hospital, Greenville Health System, announced there would be no price increase for patients in the coming year.

In the first report two hospitals, GHS and St. Francis, were willing to disclose prices for 4 common items : an aspirin, a room, a chest x-ray and a bottle of saline IV solution.  AnMed Health in Anderson responded the following week.

Find that story here.

Spartanburg Regional released the information after 7 On Your Side submitted a Freedom of Information Act request.  Those prices are here.

Now, 7 On Your Side has assembled a searchable database that allows you to find the real hospital price of 100 common procedures that require an inpatient stay.  The data, released by the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services shows the price and the reduced amount paid by medicare.

The database allows you to search for any hospital providing those procedures in Anderson, Greenville or Spartanburg Counties.
