Boiling Springs Man Arrested For Assaulting Pregnant Woman

Spartanburg County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after he allegedly choked and punched a pregnant woman during an altercation Tuesday.

According to a report obtained from the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the emergency room at Mary Black Hospital after the woman reported that she was assaulted, chocked and punched by an acquaintance, Rolando Rojo-Sanchez, 19, of Boiling Springs.

The woman stated that she and Rojo-Sanchez had been involved in a dispute throughout the day on Monday and it carried over into Tuesday. The report states that the woman, who is nine months pregnant, told deputies that Rojo-Sanchez pushed her onto a bed and began to punch her in her abdomen. She stated that she tried to flee the home, but Rojo-Sanchez grabbed her by her hair and pulled her back inside.

The woman told deputies that Rojo-Sanchez punched her in the back of her head and grabbed her around her throat and began to choke her. She stated that she could not breathe and nearly lost consciousness.

The report states that the woman was able to get away and run to the living room, but Rojo-Sanchez chased her down and continued to punch her in the face and head. At that point, he allegedly picked up a knife and swung it at her as she tried to get out of the home. However, the victim states that he pulled her back into the home again and threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone.

Deputies state in the report that the victim had numerous injuries on her head, face, neck and throat, along with contusions and abrasions on the sides of her neck. The victim stated that she began to vomit blood and suffered other injuries to the body as a result of the assault. She added that it was not the first time that Rojo-Sanchez had assaulted her and she had not reported them because she was afraid he would harm her or her family.

Rojo-Sanchez was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and kidnapping. He is currently being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center without bond.
