Buncombe County Man Charged In Ledgewood Village Shooting

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Asheville Police arrested Charles Morgan, Jr. and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. 

Morgan is accused of shooting a 21-year-old man at Ledgewood Village Apartments on Future Drive in Asheville. It happened around 10:30 Wednesday night.

When police arrived, they found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. He told officers who shot him and included a description of the man's vehicle. The victim was rushed to Mission Hospital.

Buncombe County deputies spotted the suspect's car on Cane Creek Road in the Fairview Community. After a brief chase, deputies stopped the car and arrested the suspect. He was taken to the Asheville Police Department.

Police then arrested and charged Morgan. A judge set his bond at $40,000.
