MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) -

Two different women reported being hit in the head with falling light posts at Broadway at the Beach just months apart.

The first incident happened in June of 2011.

Attorney Michael Goldberg who is representing both women said in the first case, a woman suffered mild traumatic brain injury and orthopedic injuries to her neck and shoulders.

Goldberg said there is no court case as of yet but he said they should appear for trial in about 6-8 months.

Around 4 months later, in September of 2011, another light post fell at Broadway at the Beach, this time on a 16-year-old girl.

Surveillance video shows the girl walking when a light post falls and knocks her over.

According to Goldberg, her attorney, the victim suffered closed head injury and a mild traumatic brain injury.

Goldberg said she will have re-occurring cognitive problems due to her brain injury.

The case of the 16-year-old girl was settled last week. Goldberg said both sides were satisfied with the settlement.

News13 reached out to Burroughs & Chapin, the company that owns Broadway at the Beach, for a comment.

Their spokesperson said Burroughs & Chapin does not comment on legal matters.

"These lawsuits were brought to place Broadway at the Beach on notice of the problems with the light poles. We hope they have gotten the message and made the changes needed to make sure this never happens again. There are 14 million people who visit Broadway at the Beach each year. That means there are 14 million reasons to make sure that the area is safe and secure and that light poles are properly anchored so that they don't fall and injure people," said Goldberg.
