A woman accused of a shooting in Brevard early Tuesday evening is in custody after being spotted in Greenville County.

Lieutenant Tim Ridgeway of the Greenville County Sheriff's Office stated that sheriff's deputies from Greenville County and Transylvania County spotted a car matching the description that the suspect, Jonalyn Lacy Nicholson, was driving near Pretty Place at the South Carolina-North Carolina border. Deputies pulled Nicholson over and she was taken into custody without incident, Ridgeway said.

Transylvania County Sheriff David Mahoney said that the shooting happened at 6 p.m. at a home on Wood Duck Court in Brevard. Sheriff's deputies responded and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. Investigators identified Nicholson as a suspect involved in the shooting and began to try and locate her.

According to Mahoney, investigators learned that Nicholson was driving a Chevrolet Equinox and was believed to be traveling toward the southern part of the county. A BOLO was issued to surrounding areas for Nicholson and she was located around 9 pm.

Nicholson has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflicting serious injury. She is being held at the Transylvania County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The victim was airlifted to Mission Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Mahoney said.
