Expect the coldest night of the season Wednesday with a freeze warning and a frost advisory issued for the western Carolinas.

A freeze warning from the National Weather Service is in effect from 2 a.m. - 9 a.m. for Avery, Madison, Yancey, Mitchell, Swain, Haywood, Buncombe, Graham, Transylvania and Henderson counties in western North Carolina.

Low temperatures are expected to be around 30.

A frost advisory has also been issued for much of western North Carolina and counties in the Upstate including Greenville, Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Cherokee, Anderson, Abbeville, Laurens and Greenwood.

Wednesday is the first in what's expected to be a series of unseasonably cold nights across the region.

Storm Team 7 Meteorologist Malachi Rodgers says our weather will include mostly sunny skies and cooler temperatures through the end of the week with lows in the 20s and 30s this weekend.
