South Carolina taxpayers can start signing up for free credit protection from CSIdentity Corporation Thursday. CSID will monitor the credit bureau, Transunion, and offer $1 million in ID theft insurance and full ID theft resolution services.
The credit protection comes after hackers stole millions of taxpayers' information from the SC Department of Revenue last fall. After the breach, the state provided credit protection through the company Experian. That coverage ends October 24th for the first people who enrolled.
The deadline to sign up under CSID is October 1, 2014.
