Greenville Artist's Work Part of PGA Tour on CBS Sports

Posted: Updated:

Greenville artist Jared Emerson hits the big screen Sunday when his performance art is being featured in a CBS Sports video for the PGA tour.

Emerson was selected after performing at an event honoring Webb Simpson.

"Apparently some of the right people were there and they saw me and contacted me about doing this for the PGA tour," said Emerson.

Emerson said he studies each subject he paints and can create an image in as little as just a few minutes. That's often what he does when he performs live.

Wednesday, Emerson was preparing for a show and took some time to show 7 On Your Side his pieces. His studio is packed with paintings of celebrities like Dabo Swinney, coach of the Clemson Tigers, Edwin McCain, Michael Jackson and the piece of the 4 golfers features on the PGA tour.

One of Emerson's favorite and first pieces is called Face of God. Emerson paints his interpretation of Jesus Christ and what he envisions his appearance to be.

"Emerson said he enjoys performing but only began doing it about 5 years ago.

" I think it's the action part, you can have it on your hands throw the paint off," said Emerson.

Jared continued talking about a Christmas tour with the Christian band Newsong and hopes there will be future tours and future opportunities in the art world.

" I wasn't able to make it professionally in sports but in the art world I've been able to get better and better and better," said Emerson.

You can watch the video live on CBS Sunday at 5pm.
