Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating an armed robbery to a grocery store Thursday night.

According to Lieutenant Tim Ridgeway of the sheriff's office, a man walked into the Hammett Street Grocery store around 9 p.m. armed with a shotgun. The man proceeded to rob the clerk and then left the scene on foot.

A short time later, a woman who was walking home from her neighbor's home, flagged down deputies and said a man had broke into her home and was walking back-and-forth. Ridgeway said that deputies believed that the man involved in the robbery is the same person since the break-in happened such a short distance away from the store.

After nearly two hours of trying to make contact with the man, SWAT Team members entered the home and did not find anyone inside. The armed robbery suspect is considered armed and dangerous, Ridgeway said.
