WILLIAMSTON, S.C. -
Palmetto Elementary School in Williamston will dismiss students at 1:15 p.m. Friday because of a power outage.

Anderson School District 1 tells us there was an electrical issue on the roof.

The school was evacuated as a precaution and the fire department was called to the campus on Roberts Boulevard.

First reports indicated leaves on the roof caught fire, but District 1 says the problem was contained to one area of the roof.

Electricity to the school had to be shut off during the incident which led to the early dismissal for students.
