York County, SC -

A woman convicted of killing the former York mayor has withdrawn her appeal of an eviction order for her former home.

The Herald of Rock Hill reports (http://bit.ly/1ikjvty ) that an attorney for 69-year-old Julia Phillips on Friday withdrew an appeal of a 2010 probate court's injunction evicting his client and her son from their home.

Phillips is serving life in prison for the murder of her boyfriend. Prosecutors say Phillips planned to kill 79-year-old Melvin Roberts because he was about to stop giving her money.

Roberts was killed in his driveway in February 2010. Authorities said someone hit him in the head, shattering his skull and forcing him to the ground. The assailant fired a gunshot near Roberts, then put a zip tie round his neck and pulled it tight.
