SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

Spartanburg Police are investigating a shooting in a parking lot that left one man in a local hospital.

Police say they got the call around about the shooting around 9 pm Saturday at a parking lot near 308 Highland Avenue at Cammie Claggett Apartments.

A witness told police the gunman ran from the scene.

Police say they found two men inside a small vehicle.

Police say the 21 year old victim, who was the driver, was conscious when they arrived.  They say he had gunshot wounds to the chest, his left shoulder and on one of his hands.

The witness, who they say was also the passenger, was not injured.

The shooting victim was transported by EMS to Spartanburg Medical Hospital and is listed in serious condition.

Investigators say the gunman walked up to the driver and demanded all of his belongings and fired at least one shot into the vehicle and hit the driver. Then the gunman ran off.

Police say the gunman is described as a man 5 foot 8 inches tall, about 150 pounds, wearing a stocking cap and a college style jersey.
