South Carolina Department of Transportation hopes a plan to extend Highway 153 will alleviate congestion on Highway 123.

People who live near where the new route will go off Rolling Hills Circle aren’t sure what to think right now about the proposed extension.

“We’re kind of excited about it but we don’t really know how much traffics gonna be around,” says Robin Willis.

The proposed route would branch off of where 153 ends over 123. It would go from 123 to Saluda dam road.  Most the new road would have three lanes with either a sidewalk or walking path along the route.

Willis and countless others are heading to a public hearing in Easley Tuesday night to learn more and voice their opinions.

SCDOT wants to hear your opinions about the extension. Comments are being accepted until November 25.

7 On Your Side Investigations uncovered new documents that detail a “politically sensitive” proposal for overhauling the Greenville County EMS system. The plan would change the way ambulances respond in a 9-1-1 emergency and would give control of the life-saving service to the county's largest hospital chain, Greenville Health System.
