Voters took to the polls Tuesday for the November general elections and the results are in.

Spartanburg City Council District 6

There was a big upset in the Spartanburg City Council District 6 race.  Incumbent Linda Dogan was defeated by Erica Brown.

Dogan had served on council for 20 years.

"I'm tired, I've been working and then being on council now I'm ready to have a life," Dogan told us Tuesday night.

"I wrestled with whether to run or not this time," she continued.  "Some people talked me into going ahead and doing it.  I'm emotionally and physically tired."

She says that she has enjoyed serving and wishes Brown well.

Travelers Rest Alcohol Vote

A referendum in Travelers Rest passed with a vote of 308 to 173 allowing restaurants and bars to sell alcohol on Sundays, but not stores.

Fountain Inn Alcohol Vote

A referendum to allow alcohol sales anywhere with a retail license in Fountain Inn also passed, but only by six votes. With all precincts reporting, the referendum passed by a vote of 176-170. 

Liberty Mayor

Voters in Liberty elected a new mayor in a tight race.  Eric Boughman defeated incumbent Michael Sheriff with a vote of 261 to 241.

Asheville Mayor

In the race for Asheville mayor, Vice Mayor Esther Manheimer defeated John Miall with 69 percent of the vote.

Asheville's current mayor decided not to run.  Instead, Terry Bellamy is going to run for Congress.
