Brush Fire Contained In Candler, 25 Acres Scorched

Crews battled a brush fire Sunday in Candler, near Holcombe Cove Road.

Officials with the Enka Candler Fire Department got the call about 1:00 p.m. about the fire.

As of 8:15 p.m., officials tell 7 On Your Side, the fire is 100% contained. 25 acres were burned.

Crews worked to protect four nearby homes from the fire.

No property damage was reported. No evacuation orders were issued.

At one point, about 150 personnel were involved in fighting the blaze.

    Clinton Public Safety has filed an attempted murder charge against the driver of a car that plowed into Bailey Manor Wednesday afternoon. Public Safety Director Robin Morse says Alton Payton, 84, will also be charged with one count of malicious damage to real property.
