ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -
An American flag was burned as part of vandalism reported Sunday morning in Anderson.

Police say the Anderson School District 5 career center and the school was damaged by vandals in a story first reported by our coverage partners at The Independent-Mail.

The damage also included half-melted trash cans and food stolen from a school refrigerator and left in a classroom. Fire extinguishers were taken from cabinets and sprayed in the building as well.

Firefighters found the flag burning on a pole in front of the lobby when they arrived.

Anderson Police confirm they couldn't tell if anything was stolen from the building in addition to the vandalism. The Independent-Mail reports the damage estimate was nearly $15,000.
