USC Upstate junior guard Ty Greene was selected as the Atlantic Sun Player of the Week following his performance Saturday in leading the Spartans to a 64-63 victory over Virginia Tech, the conference office announced Monday morning.
Greene scored a team-high 17 points, including 15 in the second half, to help Upstate record the program’s first-ever victory over an ACC school. The Knoxville, Tenn., native finished with five rebounds, three assists, one blocked shot and was 3-for-6 from three-point range.
“I would like to give all the glory to God,” Greene said. “It’s also a team honor because it would not have been possible without my teammates.”
It’s the first time in his Upstate career that Greene has earned A-Sun Player of the Week honors.
Upstate returns to action Wednesday at 7 p.m. when the Spartans travel to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop from the Winthrop Coliseum.
