OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. - Police have made an arrest Saturday in connection with Charles Bensen Cantrell, who's body was found lying face-down outside of a home on Webb Road in Seneca.

According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, Joshua Randall Ferguson, 36, a neighbor of the address where authorities discovered Cantrell's body, was taken into custody after a routine traffic stop.

Ferguson is being charged with murder, as well as a second charge, possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Ferguson remains in the custody of authorities at the Oconee County Detention Center. No word yet on Ferguson's bond.

“Narcotics agents also assisted in the investigation because a meth lab was discovered at the crime scene.  We will not be discussing any apparent motive in this crime in order to protect the integrity of the case.  Further details are not appropriate at this time" stated Public Information Officer, Jimmy Watt.

According to Sheriff Crenshaw, “the persistence of our officers resulted in an arrest in this case sixteen hours later".

According to coroner reports, Cantrell was shot in the back and died as a result of single gunshot wound that caused"internal trauma of a major blood vessel near [Cantrell's] heart".
