SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. -

45-year-old Duane Delbert Moffat of Cowpens was identified as the man killed in an accident on Chesnee Highway in Cowpens Saturday morning.

Troopers say Moffat's 1996 Pontiac was driving south on Highway 221 near Chesnee just before 2 a.m. Saturday when the Pontiac disconnected from the road hitting a tree.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Moffat was not wearing a seatbelt when he was thrown from his vehicle.

The exact cause of death is pending an autopsy.
