Woman's Death "Suspicious" After House Fire In Anderson County

A woman's body found inside an unoccupied home on Mountain View Rd. that burned Tuesday morning in Anderson County near Lake Hartwell is being treated as 'suspicious.'

Firefighters were called to a home at 1719 Mountain View Road in Anderson, near Lake Hartwell, around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report that the home was on fire. According to officials, a man told police that he and his wife had gone to the home to clean it when she wanted him to go and get some coffee at a store. According to authorities, the man told them that he returned about 15 minutes later after he was unable to find coffee and discovered the home ablaze with his wife inside.

The Anderson County Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
