ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. -

A man who was burning leaves in Anderson County Tuesday was found dead with signs of smoke inhalation.

Officials say the man was burning debris at his home on Chuck Drive. They say he left, and when he came back, the fire had turned into a grass fire.

A neighbor found the man’s body away from the fire, which was brought under control by the fire department.

The victim had signs of smoke inhalation, but the exact cause of death will be determined during an autopsy Wednesday.

Officials say there was no indication the man was trying to fight the fire. His name has not yet been released. The investigation continues.
