Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a shooting outside a mobile home early Tuesday night.

Lieutenant Tim Ridgeway of the sheriff's office said that deputies responded to Holder Lane, just off of Dixie Circle, just after 7 p.m. after a woman reported she had been shot. According to Ridgeway, the woman stated that she had gone outside of the home to smoke a cigarette when a man ran across the street and pointed a gun at her. The woman said that she attempted to swipe the gun away and in doing so, she was shot in the hand.

Ridgeway said that the woman ran back inside the mobile home to get away from the suspect, who ran off. Deputies searched for the suspect but were unable to find anyone. The woman was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect's description was not immediately available.
