SPARTANBURG, S.C. -

SMX Staffing needs to hire 360 employees in a week for the Spartanburg Amazon plant, according to SC Works.   The agency held a  a job fair Wednesday, November 20th from 9 am to noon at the SC Works office in Spartanburg. That's at 220 East Kennedy Street, their new location.

SC Works tells us the brought in nearly six hundred applicants for SMX's last recruitment fair and Amazon, the company asking for the employees still wants more. Experts say now is a great time to fill out an application and apply.

The company is hiring for Warehouse Associate jobs. That's everything from shipping and receiving positions to forklift operators. Those positions pay up to $11.50 per hour. There are full-time, part-time, and all shifts are available.

SMX said the jobs are not only for the holidays but can turn into a career. At Wednesday's job fair nearly every person who applied was sent in for a drug test because the need was so urgent.

Jim Ryan with SMX said many applicants would arrive to the facility in Spartanburg with questions, confused about what their job actually entailed. Now he said he will attend the fair himself reassure all applicants and answer questions.

He said the biggest reason people are not on the job in just a few days is because they either do not answer their phone or become unavailable. He said there is no lack of space to apply.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, and must be at least 18. You should also be willing to undergo a drug test and background check.
Anyone interested should bring two forms of ID and proof of education to the event.

You may also APPLY ONLINE if you missed the event.

Walk-ins are welcome at their office on Pottery Rd near Restoration Church in Spartanburg.
