EASLEY, S.C. - Police arrested Giacomo Bauer and charged him with cruelty to animals. Bauer was released from the Pickens County Detention Center on $1,092 bond Thursday.

Clinic workers at PetSmart called police and said they were treating a dog that was being abused. The worker told police Bauer brought in his dog, Jack, who was emaciated and near death. Tests run by the clinic showed the dog had been starved for a week.

Bauer told police he fed the dog every day, but Jack stopped eating Wednesday for some reason. The PetSmart clinic determine Jack would not survive the necessary treatment and had to be euthanized.

Police arrested Bauer and charged him with cruelty to animals.
