POWDERSVILLE, SC - Three people, including a firefighter, are recovering after a fire destroyed a home in Powdersville Friday night.

The fire started around 7:20 p.m. Friday at a double-wide mobile home on Stillwater Drive. According to officials at the scene, firefighters arrived on scene within three minutes and after three attempts they managed to remove the man and woman from the home. They were transported by ambulance to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The Anderson Independent Mail reports the two people inside the home, Ronald Brookshire and Sharon Brookshire, are being treated at the Joseph M. Still Burn Centers in Augusta, Georgia Saturday.

The Independent Mail says the spokesperson at the centers says the two are in good condition as of Saturday night.

The acting Anderson County Fire Chief Jimmy Sutherland tells the Independent Mail the fire was likely an accident, but are still investigating the cause and do not suspect foul play.

It took firefighters 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control. One firefighter had to be transported to the hospital due to smoke inhalation. Sutherland tells the Independent Mail the firefighter was released Saturday morning and is recovering.
