Candler, NC - A person is dead after a home invasion in Buncombe County.

Buncombe County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Natalie Bailey said that deputies received a call about a break-in to a home on Luther Road in Candler just before 6:30 p.m. Friday night. When deputies arrived, they found an unidentified man dead at the scene.

During the investigation, Bailey said that the homeowner told deputies that a struggle between he and the deceased person had occurred during the break-in and the person died. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday to determine the suspect's identity and determine the cause of death.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Asheville Police Department investigators are handling the case since Buncombe County investigators are focused on several other current homicide investigations, Bailey stated.
